I have been a big fan of Debra Thompson's (aka Miss Clementine's) work for a long time now and so I was delighted when Debra applied to take part in our Rhiwbina market this year. I love how she takes everyday objects and gives them a new lease of life, and I can't wait to see what she brings with her on Sunday. I asked Debra to introduce herself and tell us a little bit about how she spends her festive season...
"I am a self taught mixed media artist, living on the outskirts of Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly. My work is influenced by the weather, the changing seasons and whatever materials I pick up at flea fairs.
Rarely do I make Christmas themed pieces but often use a winters day or night as a starting point.
Now the children are older Christmas is a much calmer affair. We have brunch after opening the presents and our main meal is eaten around 4:30-5pm when it’s getting dark. We dim the lights and eat by candlelight - it’s very atmospheric!"
Come and meet Miss Clementine at Rhiwbina's Handmade Market this Sunday 25th November, 11am until 4pm. Debra will be in the hall.
